Ohio Certified Seed
Sunburst is a proprietary Certified soft red winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) developed by the Sunbeam Extract Company of Wooster, Ohio and is exclusively assigned to Central Ohio Seed Testing in 2008. Sunburst is widely adapted to the Eastern Corn Belt, more specifically to Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and parts of Canada. Sunburst is intended for general-purpose wheat market. Sunburst has blue-green head color, an erect-twisted flag leaf, short height, excellent straw strength, and is awnless. Green stage variants include: a combined total of 0.6% tall, awned, and or yellow-green heads. Sunburst was selected due to its excellent winter hardiness, excellent test weight, high yield potential, good scab resistance, and leaf stripe rust resistance.
